{"help": "https://data.gov.au/data/api/3/action/help_show?name=package_show", "success": true, "result": {"archived": false, "author_email": null, "contact_point": "unknown", "creator_user_id": "c2fbbe4a-4ba0-4945-808b-67454605a4cf", "duplicate_score": 2, "geospatial_topic": [], "id": "056c27d4-0dca-455e-ab24-0d532b8b2e58", "isopen": false, "license_id": "cc-by", "license_title": "Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia", "license_url": "http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/au/", "maintainer": null, "maintainer_email": null, "metadata_created": "2025-06-25T16:49:35.861852", "metadata_modified": "2026-04-02T02:22:37.947089", "name": "vcmp-sites-shoreline-profile-timeseries", "notes": "VCMP Sites - Shoreline Profile Timeseries\n\nThe Shoreline Profile Timeseries dataset features short-term and long-term shorelines ranging from 1930 to 2023 across sites monitored by the Victorian Coastal Monitoring Program (VCMP) along Victoria's coastline, spatially represented as point data.\n\nCross-sections are extracted for datasets with elevation models, including: \n- Digital Surface Models (DSM) from UAV surveys, includes vegetation. \n- Victorian Coastal Digital Elevation Model (VCDEM, updated 2022), most coastal survey data are \nfrom c. 2008 \u2013 2010, excludes vegetation. \n- Use caution when comparing onshore (backshore) sections of the profile, as VCMP UAV \nsurveys DSMs include vegetation and cannot be directly compared with the VCDEM (no vegetation).\n\nOutput products include 1m Digital Surface Models (DSM) and Orthophotos (vegetation is included in \nUAV data).\n<ul>\n<li>Vertical uncertainty for the output digital surface model (DSM) is estimated at 0.1 m. </li>\n<li>The shoreline proxy is defined as the point at which each transect first intersect a given contour (m, \nAHD): 1.0 m AHD for open coasts and 0.5 m AHD for bay sites </li>\n<li>Intersection points are joined alongshore to create a shoreline, noting the alongshore spacing (30-m) \nmay be too low to define complex, small-scale features. </li>\n<li>Assuming a beach face slope of 1-in-10, a 0.1 m vertical uncertainty in the survey DSM equates to \ncross-shore uncertainty of 1 m in shoreline position.</li>\n</ul>\n\nDigital Earth Australia (DEA) coastlines\nA mean annual mid-tide shoreline is extracted from satellite imagery using sub-pixel identification \nmethods, for the period 1988 to 2021, at 30-m alongshore spacing (Bishop-Taylor et al., 2021). \n- DEA shorelines have an estimated uncertainty of 1-3 m, with a precision limit on shoreline trends of \n0.31 m/yr, i.e., trends below this threshold are insignificant. \n- DEA have known issues around cliffed areas, leading to higher (unconstrained) uncertainty in some \ncliffed areas. DEA outputs in such areas should be treated with caution.\n\nAerial Imagery Shorelines\nAerial images are hosted and geo-rectified by DEECA's Coordinated Imagery Program. Based on control point checks by VCMP, newer images (approx. post-2000) are estimated to have horizontal uncertainty of 3-m or less. Older \nimages (pre-2000) can have greater uncertainty, estimated at up to 10-m. Older images (&lt;1960) \nmay have larger errors (unconstrained) and should be treated with caution. \n- Backshore line: Extracted for open coast and bay sites. Identified manually as the onshore extent of \nthe active sandy beach. Depending on morphology, the backshore line may be defined vegetation, \ndune toe, cliff toe and / or a coastal protection structure (sea wall or revetment). \n- Shoreline proxy line: Extracted for bay sites only (with low wave energy). Identified manually as the \ninstantaneous wet/dry line, with no tidal correction. \n- Sites with larger tidal ranges (e.g., Cowes) would be expected to have larger uncertainty in shoreline \nposition and caution is advised.\n\nAll shoreline data (short-term VCMP drone and long-term DEA satellite) are interpolated to the same set of 30-m spaced transects, based on the Digital Earth Australia 2019
