The source dataset is identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement. \n\n\n\nThis dataset contains schematic geological cross-sections of the Gippsland Basin showing the major geological unit groupings developed for the Gippsland Basin Bioregional Assessment Context Statement.\n\n\n\nNicol C (2010) Report on transient groundwater flow modelling: West Gippsland CMA. Department of Sustainability and Environment.\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nThe purpose of these cross-sections is to provide a conceptual insight for the reader into the distribution of the major geological units of the Gippsland Basin. It is not the intention that the cross-sections provide specific details on all stratigraphic units described in the context statement, however, some of the stratigraphic units are named in the diagram to aid understanding by the reader.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nThe Gippsland Basin cross sections were produced by Steve Marvanek (CSIRO) in ArcMap 10.2.
