The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThis dataset contains all the data and plots showing the development of surface water mine footprints in the Namoi subregion. They are published in the Namoi 2.1.6 and Namoi 2.6.1 products.\r\n\r\n## **Dataset History** \r\n\r\nThe Namoi surface water mine footprints represents the area in a mine site that impacts surface runoff through interception and thus preventing its entry to the natural stream network. The footprints includes the entire area disturbed by the coal mine development, including mine pits, roads, spoil dumps, water storages and mine infrastructure. It may also include otherwise undisturbed parts of the landscape from which natural runoff is drained into mine-disturbed areas or retained in reservoirs. As new parts of the mine lease areas are opened up and rehabilitated areas established, the footprint changes over the life of a mine's operation.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThis dataset represents a compilation of the change in area of all surface water mine footprints over the lifetime of the mine. The areas have been plotted and are presented in the NAM 2.1-2.2 and NAM 2.6.1 products.\r\n\r\n## **Dataset Citation** \r\n\r\nBioregional Assessment Programme (2017) Namoi surface water mine footprints - charts. There are two separate programs of bioregional assessments.\r\n\r\nThe Bioregional Assessment Program (2012 - 2017) seeks to better understand the potential impacts of coal seam gas and large coal mining developments on water resources and water-related assets. It is one of a number of actions undertaken by the Australian Government to strengthen the science underpinning decision making on coal seam gas and large coal mining developments.\r\n\r\nThe Geological and Bioregional Assessment Program (2017 - 2021) assessed the potential impacts of shale and tight gas development on water and the environment.
