It comprises a digital map showing the locations of some abandoned penguin colonies (represented by points) and a linked digital database containing additional information. The importance of these sites derives from the fact that a chronology of penguin occupation can be established by radiocarbon dating and this in turn provides a minimum age for deglaciation of the Windmill Islands. These data were compiled by Dr Ian D Goodwin from his own field notes and from the records of other workers.
