The helipads identified in the dataset will be maintained at their current standard. In the case of naturally occurring helipads (e.g. rock shelves or grasslands) no active maintenance works will be undertaken. These locations have been identified in the RFMP 2019-28. The symbology is determined by the 'Aircraft_size' field. The current values are 'Light', 'Medium', 'Heavy'. Light - Allow the safe landing of light helicopters (e.g. Jet Ranger, Squirrel). Allow the landing of a helicopter with a rotor diameter of 12m or less and an overall machine length of 13m or less. The landing and lift-off area consists of rock/grass/mineral earth with an area of 7x7m. The final approach and take-off area cleared of vegetation for14m. The final approach area of reduced vegetation for 25m. Approach and departure angles of 40 degrees in one or more directions. Medium - Allow the safe landing of medium-sized helicopters (e.g. BELL 412). Allow the landing of a helicopter with a rotor diameter of 15m or less and an overall machine length of 18m or less. The landing and lift-off area consists of rock/grass/mineral earth with an area of 10x10. The final approach and take-off area cleared of vegetation for 20m. The final approach area of reduced vegetation for 35m. Approach and departure angles of 40 degrees in one or more directions. Heavy - Allow the safe landing of heavy or large-sized helicopters (e.g. Skycrane). Allow the landing of a helicopter with a rotor diameter of 21m or less and an overall machine length of 21m or less.
