ASGS SA2 2021 - MMM 2023.xlsx provides a mapping between Statistical Area Level 2 (SA2) regions and their corresponding Modified Monash Model (MMM) 2023 classifications. The MMM is used to define the remoteness of Australian locations (MM 1 = major cities, MM 7 = very remote), supporting health workforce planning, especially for rural and remote areas. SA2s are medium-sized geographic units in the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS), designed to represent communities with shared social and economic characteristics. There are 2,473 SA2s across Australia, and this file shows how each SA2 is classified under the MMM 2023 system, including cases where an SA2 overlaps multiple MMM categories.
