The R V Franklin National Facility Oceanographic Research Vessel completed a Biological and Physical Oceanographic research trip from 21-Jun-1988 to 18-Jul-1988. The research aimed to conduct a multidisciplinary study of physical, biological and chemical oceanographic processes in the oceanic boundary zone bordering the Australian and Papuan Barrier Reef Systems. This was a joint cruise with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) This dataset contains ammonia, chlorophyll, phaeopigment and zooplankton abundance and species identification data from Franklin Cruise 5/88. This trip aimed to identify upwelling along the reefs of the central and eastern coral sea. Additional data for this cruise resides with CSIRO Oceanography.
