Bremer and Vlaming Release Areas: New Exploration Opportunities from Geoscience Australia's New Petroleum Program

In May 2003, the Australian Government announced A$61 million in funding for Geoscience Australia’s New Petroleum Program. This four-year program aims to develop new exploration opportunities in offshore Australia, in areas that have either never been explored, or in which a significant period of time has elapsed since the last phase of exploration. Importantly, new exploration areas identified in this program will be delivered to explorers through the acreage release process. This year, the first exploration opportunities from Geoscience Australia’s New Petroleum Program are being delivered to the market, with acreage release blocks in the Bremer Sub-basin and Vlaming Sub-basin.
