LGA’s with less than 45 cows were excluded from the analysis. The equation used to calculate dairy manure production is, Manure wet weight (t/week) = 5.72 (kg/day collected in the dairy) x number of dairy cattle x 7/1000 Manure calculations are based on the 2015-2016 average milk production of 6512kg/cow/yr from the Diary Australia website. Total excreta (feaces+urine) (kg day) was calculated using the Nennich et al (2005) equation to produce an average manure production of 57 kg per day per animal. An average of 10% of this figure is assumed to be deposited in the dairy.
