The Blue Maps method aims to categorise coastal ecosystems into one of four classes based on the degree of hydrological connection with the Great Barrier Reef (GBR).The graduated scale (0 - Infrequently Connected to 3 - Very Frequently Connected) represents the level of potential influence and connection, in time and space, of marine and freshwater over the coastal ecosystems.
