The majority of weeds also have a status of "declared" under the Tasmanian Weed Management Act 1999. Weed locations are on reserved and crown land. Weeds have also been captured on some private properties that are adjacent to the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area (TWWHA) and were party to the TWWHA Neighborhood Program (2016). These weeds are considered a potential environmental threat to the TWWHA if they spread. The on-going treatment or monitoring of weeds is recorded using a grid transect over affected areas.
