The TSPF developed the first Bycatch Action Plan in 1999 to address the ever increasing public concerns regarding prawn trawl operations and in recognition of initiatives being under taken in adjacent trawl fisheries. This version of the BAP incorporates any changes in management with regard to the management of bycatch species in the TSPF between 2000 and 2002.
