Bass Strait Current Meter and Tide Gauge (Mooring) Data (UNSW) 1991

Created 25/06/2025

Updated 25/06/2025

This dataset comprises the current meter and tide gauge data collected as part of the 1991 University of New South Wales study "Low Frequency Circulation at the Western End of Bass Strait" during January-May 1991. One current meter which could not be recovered in May 1991 was recovered later and contained data to July 1991. There are 3 moorings with 3 current meters and 1 tide gauge represented in this dataset. Parameters typically recorded in current meter data comprise east-west and north-south velocity components, water temperature, pressure, and salinity at a nominal depth for each current meter. The data have been processed and are archived as part of the holdings of the CMR Data Centre in Hobart.
