EcoRRAP Benthic Orthomosaics

Created 23/06/2025

Updated 23/06/2025

The current orthomosaics represent scaled, 2D, representations of benthic communities at EcoRRAP study sites. Orthomosaics are generated from raw imagery collected by divers (see SOP #14: Reef monitoring sampling methods | AIMS) and processed using photogrammetry software Agisoft Metashape. Orthomosaics can be used to extract a range of data describing benthic communities including: community composition, spp. abundance, colony size-frequency distribution, and spatial arrangement. Comparison of orthomosaics between years can also be used to quantify changes in the above metrics as well as vital rates and demographics (growth, mortality, partial mortality).
