Emergency Meeting Points

Created 25/06/2025

Updated 25/06/2025

The EMP dataset records a set of several hundred pre-agreed, easily-found locations to which emergency service vehicles (ie. police, fire, ambulance, SES) can be directed, where they will be met and escorted to the site of a trauma or incident in a remote location. Their use is designed to maximise the speed and certainty of emergency services reaching the correct destination in rural situations which are not well sign-posted or mapped, or with which emergency personnel cannot be expected to be familiar. Each site is signposted on the ground. The dataset records the EMP number, its geographic coordinates, its location relative to roads/bridges/intersections, radio and phone coverage, etc. All data has been checked and ground-verified.
