EPA Aquatic Ecosystem DGVs for Surface Water Catchments

Created 25/06/2025

Updated 25/06/2025

The Default Guideline Values (DGVs) for aquatic ecosystems have been derived for inland waters of the surface water catchments of Tasmania in accordance with the National Water Quality Management Strategy (NWQMS)(https://www.waterquality.gov.au/). These were identified as a one of 6 key Protected Environmental Values (PEVS) through thre PEVS project under the State Policy on Water Quality Management 1997 (https://epa.tas.gov.au/Documents/State_Policy_on_Water_Quality_Management_1997.pdf). The most stringent set of water quality guidelines for the identified PEVs are used as water quality objectives. For further information on DGV derivation refer to the EPA website (https://epa.tas.gov.au/epa/water/water-quality-objectives-for-tasmania).
