Indonesian Landscape Metrics

Created 17/12/2025

Updated 17/12/2025

The Indonesian Landscape Metrics tool is an interactive web application, used by researchers to calculate and visualise metrics for describing and quantifying spatial patterns and ecological processes in landscapes in the Republic of Indonesia. These patterns can be relevant to deforestation, habitat loss and environment-wildlife-human interactions at a range of landscape scales. Users define their landscape using polygons or points as either shapefile or csv, and select relevant metrics at patch, class or landscape level. Results calculated by the tool can be viewed interactively using both the table and map in the application or downloaded as a text file for further analysis. The application uses the 10m Indonesian Hybrid Landcover 2020 - GeoTIFF and Hosted Tile Layer, derived from open source data products (i) ESRI 2020 Landcover, (ii) Global industrial and smallholder oil palm, (iii) Global Human Settlement and (iv) Open Street Map.
