Coastal carbon - Australia's blue forest future - Water Levels

Created 25/10/2025

Updated 25/10/2025

Mean Sea Level (MSL) and Highest Astronomical Tide (HAT) for Australia. MSL is calculated by regression of the BRAN2020 derived Mean Dynamic Topography against the ABSLMP Tide Gauges reduced to the Australian Vertical Working Surface (AVWS) datum. HAT is calculated using the AUSTEN tidal model and corrected using MLP Regression against 710 AHO station observations. The vertical datum for HAT is (implicitly) MSL. The absolute height of HAT above AVWS is obtained by MSL + HAT (m above AVWS).
