LBA observations for project V603 semester 2021APRS

Created 21/09/2025

Updated 21/09/2025

We propose a LBA NAPA program to localise a repeating Fast Radio Burst, FRB190520, in collaboration with FAST and the Tianma 65m telescope. Our current observations show that FRB190520 is extremely active with a relatively stable burst rate, and is therefore ideal for very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) localisation. LBA will be triggered when a VLBI session using FAST and Tianma is scheduled. Combining the high sensitivity of FAST and long baselines of these telescopes, we aim to achieve milli-arcsecond level localisation of FRB190520, which will allow us to identify its host galaxy and any association of local structures. These information will greatly improve our understanding of FRBs progenitors and their local environment.
