Joint GSQ-GA NGA geochronology project: Mount Isa region, 2007-2008

This Geological Survey of Queensland - Geoscience Australia (GSQ-GA) geochronology record presents a compilation of 11 new zircon U–Pb SHRIMP geochronological results from the Mount Isa region, Queensland (Table 1). This data was collected through the collaborative GSQ-GA geochronology project in August 2007 as part of the National Geoscience Accord (NGA) and in support of ongoing geoscientific investigations and regional eological mapping by the GSQ in the Mount Isa region. A separate report for each sample is presented, containing a brief geochronological interpretation as well as information on sample location and geological context. All analytical data for each sample can also be obtained from the GA geochronology database OZCHRON, located at: www.ga.gov.au/oracle/ozchron/index.jsp. Three samples were analysed from the south-western Mount Isa region within the URANDANGI 1:250 000 map sheet, two samples from the Kalkadoon–Leichhardt Belt from DUCHESS and CLONCURRY and six samples were analysed from the eastern Mount Isa region and the Boomarra Horst (DUCHESS and CLONCURRY and DOBBYN). An additional five samples were submitted for SHRIMP analysis but they failed to yield sufficient zircons for further investigation. A summary of all processed and analysed samples from this study is presented in Table 1, sample locations are shown in Figure 1.
