The Merchant Vessel Sea Flyte is a platform of the Enhancement of Measurements on Ships of Opportunity (SOOP)- Sea Surface Temperature sub-facility. It collects underway bulk Sea Surface Temperature (SST) from its daily trips between Hillarys Boat Harbour and Rottnest Island (Western Australia). The MV Sea Flyte is a 35 m catamaran. The callsign is VHW5167. Bulk SST is processed from SBE38 calibrated digital oceanographic thermometer. The depth of sensor varies from 1.2 m (when stationery) to 0.05-0.1 m.
Data are quality controled at the Bureau of Meteorology and provided to eMII shortly after 0000 UTC.
