Enhancement of Measurements on Ships of Opportunity (SOOP) - Enhancement of Measurements on Ships of Opportunity (SOOP) - MV Spirit of Tasmania II collects bulk SST data during its regular trips between Melbourne (Victoria) and Devonport (Tasmania). The vessel is a ROPAX ferry, 194 m length (beam - 25 m, draught - 6.5 m). The ship's callsign is VNSZ. SST is acquired hourly from SBE48 hull-contact sensor that is installed inside the hull at 1.5-2 m below waterline. Also, the meteorological data are available from a ship AWS (Vaisala Milos 500) at the same temporal and spatial resolution. The data are quality controlled by the Bureau of Meteorology. The daily data are available from eMII shortly after 0000 UTC.
