A Tsunami is a wave generated by the movement of water from the surface to the seafloor. A Tsunami will usually occur as a result of an earthquake, landslide or vulcanic eruption in or near surrounding oceans. Geoscience Australia have been monitoring Tsunamis for several years and have a website describing the causes, common impacts, warning systems, definitions and library catalogues. The website links to tsunami emergency management in Australia, the Pacific Tsunami warning centre, Japan meterological Agency- warning Tsunami, Alaska Tsunami warning centre, International Tsunami warning centre, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - Tsunamis, Russian Tsunami Laboratory, Emergency Management Australia Library.
