New SHRIMP U-Pb zircon ages from the Georgetown and Coen regions, Queensland. NE Queensland Solid Geology Project, 2024-2025

Created 17/10/2025

Updated 17/10/2025

New Sensitive High Resolution Ion Microprobe (SHRIMP) U–Pb geochronological results for six samples are presented in this Record. The samples are from cores of basement units intersected in drillholes that penetrated overlying rocks of the Karumba (Cenozoic) and Carpentaria (Mesozoic) basins. Two of the six samples are from units forming under-cover extensions of the Proterozoic Etheridge Province, one from the Proterozoic Croydon Province, one probably from the Proterozoic Savannah Province, and two from under-cover units of the late Paleozoic Kennedy Igneous Association.
