Restoration Ecology - Site mediates performance in a coral seeding trial

Created 23/06/2025

Updated 23/06/2025

The data in this record accompany Randall et al. 2022 Restoration Ecology – Site mediates performance in a coral seeding trial. The experiment spanned Nov 2018 – Oct 2019, using Acropora tenuis larvae spawned in the National Sea Simulator from broodstock collected from Backnumbers reef (central mid-shelf Great Barrier Reef). Coral recruits were settled and grown in the Sea Simulator for around 90 days before being deployed back to 3 replicate sites (and 4 replicate transects per site) on Backnumbers reef. Upon deployment the benthic community composition around each device was assessed via photoquadrats, analysed in CoralPointCount with excel extensions (CPCe). The coral juveniles were monitored for survival and collected after 219 days of deployment. Parameters for this dataset include: Coral recruit survival; benthic community composition
