The ABARE 2016 plantation statistics from the National Forestry Inventory data was collated by LGA to give total planted area and harvest residue figures. The softwood data includes a range of Pine species however the vast majority of the plantation estate (>90%) is P.radiata and P.pinasta with P.pinasta occurring primarily north of Perth and in the inland LGA’s whilst the P.radiata plantations are mainly in the southwest.
