Space Weather Hazard Modelling - Geomagnetically Induced Currents

Created 09/01/2026

Updated 09/01/2026

A two page flyer describing Geoscience Australia's modelling capability for space weather (Geomagnetically Induced Current - GIC) impacts on critical infrastructure such as the electricity grid. The flyer also describes the long established geomagnetism program which includes the operation of the Australian Geomagnetic Observatory Network (AGON), geoelectric monitoring and calibration of direction finding (compasses) and magnetometers.
