Summary of results. Joint NTGS-GA geochronology project: Amadeus Basin, July 2017-June 2018

This Record presents SHRIMP U–Pb geochronological results from the Amadeus Basin obtained between June 2017 and July 2018 during the Northern Territory Geological Survey–Geoscience Australia (NTGS–GA) geochronology project under the National Collaborative Framework (NCF) agreement. This project is a contribution to Geoscience Australia’s Exploring for the Future Programme, which aims to better understand the mineral, energy and groundwater resources of Northern Australia. Six samples were analysed in support of ongoing regional geoscientific investigations and mapping programs by the NTGS (Donnellan et al in prep). This Record documents detailed results for each sample, comprising sample location and geological context, a description of the zircons, the relevant analytical data, and a brief geochronological interpretation. In addition, Edgoose (2013) previously described the sampled units in detail together with summarised regional lithostratigraphic and chronostratigraphic correlations of successions throughout the Amadeus Basin. Sample locations are shown in Figure 1; a summary of all results is presented in Table 1 and Figure 2. Data for each sample are tabulated in the Appendix (Table A1–A6). Full analytical data and interpretations for each sample are available via GA’s Geochron Delivery system (http://www.ga.gov.au/geochron-sapub-web/); this data includes analytical session-specific details of the calibration data collected on the reference 238U/206Pb and 207Pb/206Pb zircons.
