CLM - Surface Water electrical conductivity measurements at gauging sites within the Clarence-Moreton bioregion in NSW and QLD.

Abstract

The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from river gauge data provided by the Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Mines and the NSW Office of Water. The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.

The dataset includes electrical conductivity measurements of streams and rivers as a representation of surface water salinity in the Clarence-Moreton bioregion. At some of the gauging sites, multiple records (time-series data) exist, but the frequency of measurement is highly variable at different sites. Where multiple records for a site exist, the median was calculated as a representation of central tendency.

Purpose

The purpose of this derived dataset is to assess the spatial distribution of surface water (streams and rivers) electrical conductivity (as a representation of salinity) across the Clarence-Moreton Bioregion.

Dataset History

The locations of surface water gauges and measured surface water electrical conductivity were extracted from downloaded PDF documents contained in the datasets 'CLM - NSW River Gauge Pdf documents' (GUID - ffc17844-006c-40e8-adcd-53e75efb530f) and 'CLM - QLD River Gauges' (GUID - 53682d02-4f82-428d-840a-069b332c8b58). A shapefile of location and measured electrical conductivity value was created for combined NSW and QLD gauges that occur within the spatial extent of the Clarence-Moreton Bioregion.
