This dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.

Interpretation of the extent of the Simpson Basin using basement relief imagery of onshore and offshore sedimentary basins.

Purpose

The data file is used to indicate the location and understood extent of the Simpson Basin.

Dataset History

The Simpson Basin outline interpretation was extracted from the file sedbasdd.shp, which was obtained from GA. As many basins onlap, basin outlines are subdivided according to how many basins onlap the basin in quation. Therefore a selection of all outlines classified as "Simpson Basin" from the categories "B1", "B2", "B3" and "B4" was used to obtain the entire basin outline. These outlines were then combined to form a single outline for the Simpson Basin. Original extraction comes from sedbasdd.shp.
