How to Fail Successfully. GeoInsight's Path to Innovation

Created 16/10/2025

Updated 16/10/2025

Fear of failure can be daunting, but it plays a crucial role in driving successful innovation. Kathryn Waltenberg demonstrates how experiencing and learning from failure is fundamental to the development of the web-based GeoInsight platform, designed to provide geoscience information to those without a geology background. In its pilot stage as of October 2024, GeoInsight is being actively developed with a human-centered design approach that challenges assumptions through evidence-based practices. GeoInsight supports Geoscience Australia’s objective of delivering rapid access to geoscience insights for informed decision-making by remaining open to feedback on what works and what doesn’t, ensuring it meets users' needs effectively.
