Mineralogy Database

Created 03/03/2026

Updated 03/03/2026

The Geoscience Australia (GA) Minerology database contains the mineralogical analyses (eg, heavy mineral analysis, XRD analyses), analytical parameters, preparation methods, sample minerals and mineralogical properties from rock and regolith materials. The majority of the analysed samples are from the Exploring for the Future most notability the Barkley-Isa-Georgetown (BIG), and Darling-Curnamona-Delamarian (DCD) projects. The data set is currently used for internal GA consumption and is served off an application within the GA portal.

The resource is accessible via the Geoscience Australia Portal (https://portal.ga.gov.au/)
