All data included in this file were sourced from the Australian Bureau of Stastics (ABS). All data are ABS Estimated Resident Populations (ERPs) except – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Populations for the period 2022–2025, which are sourced from: "Estimated resident and projected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population, identification change series, sex and single year of age by states and territories and Australia, 2021 to 2031, released March 2025". ABS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population projections present data by five-year age groups to 65+ years. To estimate the number of males and females to 85 years plus, the proportions for the five-year age groups 65–69, 70–74, 75–79, 80–84 and 85+ years for the census year 2001 were applied to the projected populations 65 years and older 2022 to 2025.
