Queensland pest distribution surveys

Created 12/11/2025

Updated 12/11/2025

The Queensland pest distribution survey series describes the broad-scale distribution of invasive plants and animals across Queensland. Pest species include restricted and prohibited (but present) invasive species defined in the Biosecurity Act 2014, as well as several unlisted but emerging pests. The surveys are conducted using a grid-based mapping system, with pest presence, density, and distribution recorded. Data is collected through workshops with pest management experts and supplemented by data repositories such as the Atlas of Living Australia, Feral Scan, and Queensland Herbarium. Surveys have been conducted in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011–2012, 2013–2014, 2018, and 2022–23.
